Sports Events
The Sydney Olympic Park Sports Centre is Australia's premier indoor sports arena. The centre is home to inaugural ANZ Netball champions the NSW Swifts and the newly formed Westbus Sydney Spirit, the only Sydney team in the National Basketball League.
The Sports Centre regularly hosts state, national and international championships in a wide range of sports including gymnastics, futsal, badminton, volleyball, indoor hockey, dancesports and martial arts.
While the centre hosts a range of community and commercial events, its core business and highest priority is the staging of successful sporting events at regional, state, national and international level. Venue hire for sports events is kept as low as possible as a result of being subsidised by the Trust and the success of these events is assured by the involvement of the centre's experienced team.
The Sydney Olympic Park Sports Centre features:
- 2,166 square metres of sprung timber floor
- variable seating layout and capacity to suit a range of sports
- an intimate atmosphere - only 24 metres from the furthest seat to the arena floor
- ample rooms for meeting and support functions
- 1,188 square metres of multi-use training space adjacent to the main arena- one of the largest facilities in Australia.
